Helm’s Deep

The Song

This parody of Tomorrow We Fight by Tommee Profitt recalls the last stand of the Rohirrim at Helm’s Deep against the combined forces of Saruman’s Uruk-hai and the Dunlendings.

Recording

The beautiful, haunting melody of the original has been preserved by the acoustic guitar backing track used in this recording: filled out with some additional instruments (strings, flute, etc) to create interest and provide some depth for the vocal tracks.

Lyrics

Helm’s Deep

V1:

Riders of Rohan, defending Helm’s Deep.
Saruman’s orcs have surrounded the keep.
No quarter given or asked for. Whereby
Soon on the morrow we expect to die.

Ch1:

Chill is the night. The stars are bright.
Sleep for awhile then continue the fight.

Br1:

Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
Let arrows fly!
Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
Fight till we die!

V2:

Uruk-hai orcs leagued with Dunlending men
Come to destroy us. They attack again.
There in their thousands they advance and try
To tear us to pieces. First many will die.

Ch2:

Cold steel shines bright. Byrnies laced tight.
Let the orcs come. We are ready to fight!

Br1:

Br2:

Killing. Orc-blood spilling.
Fight for Rohan!
Swinging longswords. Singing.
Wait for the dawn!

Outro:

Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
On the third day
Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
Gandalf the Grey
Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
Promised to bring
Ah-oh. Ah-oh. Ah-oh.
Aid to our king.
