Húrin Taken

Húrin at Nirnaeth Arnoediad

The Song

This parody of Mortals by Warriyo (original with Laura Brehm) envisages as its scene the capture of Húrin at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad or Battle of Unnumbered tears: Huor has fallen dead nearby, and black orcs of the troll-guard are climbing over piles of their own dead attempting to capture him alive and drag him back a prisoner to Utumno.

Recording

The song structure is very simple – a single verse structure in the middle of an otherwise instrumental composition. The beautiful, haunting tune inspires lyrics of a reflective, even speculative nature.

Lyrics

Húrin Taken

V1:

More orcs keep appearing
My time here is ending.
The troll-guard is jeering.
By my strength I slay them, never giving

Up. Although I’m fearing
To my death I’m wending.
Though my end is nearing
Day will come again – too late for me!
