Happy 2020 and a look forward for lotro

Everyone is now in the year 2020 and all the critters and humanoids would like to wish you a happy 2020.  Below we’ll also take a little look at some expectations, expectations and hopes for Lotro itself.

Continuing 2019

From last year we’ll continue to see some revamps that were still planned, but didn’t make it last year. From the developers letter the kin revamp is the largest one that remains untouched. Most other parts have been touched upon. Class tune-ups, 64-bit client, story, challenge, virtues, crafting and the legendary servers have been quite well received. The instance finder remains largely ignored.

The developers letter for 2020 has not been spotted in any variation though

Minas Morgul part 2

The closest update that has been confirmed for 2020 are the 2 6-man instances and the Shelob raid. One of the 6-man will most likely future the wight-infested Ost-dunhothy fortress in Thuringwrath. And Shelob will be one thing in the upcoming raid.

What’s further in these instances and raids is mostly speculation for now. There might be other smaller updates such as the small Annuminas like mini-bosses inside Minas Morgul introduced in the last patch.

Legendary server Rohan (housing) and older area updates

The next content released on the legendary server will be Riders of Rohan which brings us to level 85. With it (expected) there will be a new premium housing area in Rohan. The hobbit instances and the Erebor raids including everyone’s favorite pastime mounted combat will be up for tweaks and/or overhauls. Perhaps our little horses can take a bit more of a beating at higher levels then.

Legendary weapon revamp

Pretty much no idea about when, how or in what direction this will be. But it’s slated for 2020. It will probably be the biggest hoop the game will have to jump through. We’ve looked at this last year for a bit.

Rumor time

So with all we know for 2020 being based on 2019 information. We’ve seen a few glimpses for what might be coming this year.

Wildwood

A landscape change and new mob-types have been spotted north of the Brandy hills.

Nurn and Mount Gundabad

In quests and distant views the land of Nurn has been spotted for areas that might part of an upcoming content update. The fortress of Mount Gundabad was mentioned in the 2019 developers letter, but we never seen it beyond some orcs in the Vales.

On the long road ahead MadeofLions commented on questions about viewing other Mordor Besieged like moments in lotro. If players and development time would allow it.

Rohan part 2 and Gondor

The 2nd part of 2020 we’ll get 2nd part of Rohan and perhaps a bit of Gondor depending on how fast they release level caps there. Or how they will package Condors split level 100 and 105 areas.

The largest change here will be how they will go about with the Big battles and essences in these updates. Both would be up for a bit of an update now and by then.

Store and server stability

While 2019 was a good year for middle-earth. The server hamsters had some issues running it all. Ranging from extended downtime’s, server restarts, general lag in heavily populated areas and the store not delivering items. Lets hope 2020 will be a better year for engineering and the support systems.
