I voted movies, for me it was the animated Hobbit.
That led me to the book and then more Tolkien.
My uncle Dan, who was a hobbity sort himself, gave me The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion for Christmas when I was 8.
I discovered the books on the back of the filing cabinet I had to stand behind when I was sent to the corner as punishment. Then I got sent to the corner a lot, because I wanted to keep reading!
haha n1 😀
Nice story 🙂
For me was the movies, my cousin had readed the book so we all went to another city to watch them right away! We did the same the 2 years after, was epic 🙂
Then the love for Middle-earth grew and discovered the books and the amazing worlds Tolkien created! *bow*
My dad read them aloud to my sister and I when I was 7, starting with The Hobbit
I was about 3 years old when the Two Towers movie came out, so I pretty much grew up watching the movies and playing along with my toy weapons. The Lord of the Rings was such an important part of my childhood that I grew obsessed with it in 5th grade after I got the Lord of the Rings Conquest on my Xbox 360, which ended up causing me to read the books, and I have loved Tolkien’s works ever since.
I guess I could have voted movies, but it was the animated Ralph Banshee one from the 70’s. I saw it on what was called Wometco, a over the air waves kinda cable station before my town had cable. I found the plot of the movie interesting, and since it ended at the battle of Helms Deep, I needed to read the books to find out the ending. And after that there was no turning back for me. read The Silmarillion after that, and after that The Hobbit.
Movies. My mother bought animated version of The Hobbit when I was about 4. I loved it to the point of seeing it more than twice a day when I was a kiddy (you know kids). Later, when I learned how to read more than just picture books, my first chapter book was The Hobbit. Then I got into this thing called “The Lord of the Rings.”
The Jackson movies just reinvigorated my love for the books. See Andang, you didn’t run out of polls 😀
I actually really didn’t run out of ideas since I had polls planned still when I made up that poll 😀 So if you answered I ran out of ideas that was technically our first wrong answer I think 😀
