I recently sat down with Turbine Founder Johnny Monsarrat to discuss the early days at Turbine. We talk about everything from starting gaming companies to the invention of MMO gaming.

This is THE development diary for Riders of Rohan I have been waiting for, and I am pretty excited to see it. I have to admit that it contains less

Damari took a recent trip to the Circle of Blood in the Lone Lands. They say in this place the land itself bleeds. At least the full moon and night

I think the joke answer for this should have been “What’s PvMP?”
My own answer would have been “No” if this had been last week’s poll, but thanks to Arathaert and friends, I am slowly coming ’round to the Creepside (though really I was sold on wargs as soon as I discovered their /dance1 animation).
Yeah I had a few joke answers but decided this one was better without them.
Tried it a few times, on both sides. Can’t say I enjoyed it much.
I’ve tried PVMP on my Captain. It was ok except for the wargs that stealth.
I did a little in a group on creep side, it was fun but stopped when the balance was off.
Have I played creep side? Yep. Do I like PvP? Nah, not really. Other than recently playing a bit due to a streamer or two, I play creep side more so as a glorified session play. The ability to play something that does not match one of the specified 10 classes, along with the use of more than 1-3 skills (in that of a regular session play) is pretty neat.
I wish I could tag my creep as PvE in the Moors, but I know that would be pushing it.
I think the main issue with PvMP is the learning curve at the start is _immense_. It pretty much drops you in and leaves you to your own devices. There are a lot of stuff I’d not have known if Ara hadn’t been leading a group of us through.
Also, I think Creep-side, you start out a little /too/ gimped. I’m all for learning as you go, but as an example, Wargs /really/ should start with Enhanced Skill: Stealth built in. Possibly Enhanced Skill: Sprint and Shadow as well.
Tried it, ran away as fast as I could. hate it! BUT……. I don’t like fighting as a goal and don’t give a *bleep* about armour, so its not my cup o’ tea.
Play creepside so much now that PVE seems boring. Haven’t been able to make it through central gondor yet.
I’ve tried PvMP a few times, and have 3 Freeps with ranks, and a couple of different Creeps. Unfortunately, I didn’t really enjoy the experience too much.
The quests are way too grindy, although I do admit to enjoy getting on my creep and running around killing hobbits in the town. It fulfills some sort of psychotic dream I have I guess 😉
Getting in a big group and killing other people is sort of fun, but the effort/reward rate is far more lucrative doing instances, or epic battles, or landscape quests, or basically anything else in game.
I wonder if my impression would be different if there was still the facility of viewing leaderboards. Then there would be something tangible to aim for – you could see the little jumps in renown/infamy actually contribute to a few ticks up in your ranking.
Killing those nasty little Hobbitses is a great stress reliever.
As for PvMP I’ve enjoyed a brief visit to creepside getting a reiver to rank 4 through mostly quests and earnt some maps. Its fairly dead on Elendilmir though, limiting the amount of long term fun that can be had.
I like pvmp, I don’t like target forwarding in raids. I think raids should be disabled in pvmp, and keep it 6v6, but to each their own.
Pvmp can be a lot of fun but it can be extremely frustrating and demoralizing. When you’re consistently getting trounced due to an over abundance of healing creeps it really becomes tiresome.
