I have enjoyed all three of these zones, and I found it hard to choose but eventually settled on the Great River. Although I have just remembered that horrible swamp bit 😀
Tough one! Great River has such a wide variety of landscapes (forest, rolling hills, swamp, deserted wasteland, etc) which all mesh together pretty seamlessly, Wildermore (I think) has one of the cooler storylines weaved throughout the great world design (awesome icy details to be seen!), and Enedwaith is, well, Enedwaith. It again has a nice variety of landscapes, fun enemies to be fought (I love me some tasty bugans!), and I’m sure all the group instance content associated with the pack is a nice perk.
I ended up giving my vote to the Great River, but all three are excellent filler zones, and should each be experienced at least once.
Shouldn’t Lothlórien be here as well, as is was the ‘filler’ between Moria and Mirkwood?
Regardless, my vote is for Enedwaith. It has a wide variety of landscape to explore (snow, rolling plains, swamps, forests, barrows), even if the boundaries between these don’t always flow nicely. It also has plenty of content, including two reputation fractions, which are only a small grind, and it comes with the ‘In Their Absences’ raid cluster, providing plenty of content for only 695 TP.
Technically the Mines of Moria expansion included Lothlórien, even though part of Lothlórien was released later.
Not confusing at all 😉
That is not true for the in-game store though. Only the box copy of the past.
Easy to choose: Eagles are in the Great River! Although I really enjoyed Wildermore.
Enedwaith has been my favorite overall area in the game since I first came to it when max level was still 65 (and it was much more difficult than it is now since the mob levels/quest levels were dropped a bit later). Diverse area, diverse mobs, and at the time it was released was a great introduction to the dunlending peoples imho.
Although the story in Wildermore is good, I am not a fan of the questing landscape there. I think after spending so much time in the open plains in the rest of Rohan, Wildermore feels very cramped and claustrophobic.
Enedwaith, to me, seems too brightly colored in some parts and looking unrealistic. While both the Great River and Enedwaith have a variety of landscape ‘biomes’, I think only the Great River does a good job of blending them together in a realistic way.
I enjoy the story of Stangard being made up of exiled Rohirrim and being able to see and assist some Eagles.
So I voted for the Great River!
Wildermore for me was kind of a disappointment. Having just finished Eastern Rohan, where the quests were linked together very well, Wildermore seemed to lack that kind of polish and I found myself combing the wiki and my quest log to find out what I had missed. Then to include the survivors of Wildermore, right after Hytbold, was too much grind for me. Although one of the funniest scenes takes place in Wildermore, I had to go with Great River. Wildermore, fresh on the heels of mounted combat, made mounted combat abysmal. Balewood anyone? Enedwaith is just Dunland Light in my opinion and I didn’t care for Dunland all that much.
Enedwaith. I love The Huntsman story line.
Orome! I wonder if they couldn’t use his name do to licensing issues.
