About new player question, short answers:
1. yes
2. that depends, you’ll just need more and more hits to defeat enemy as your LI is outdated (it’s min level compared to yours). Common consensus is you should exchange your LI (weapon at least) at mid 50, 60-65, 75, 85 or better 86 (but 86 are drops only), 95 and finally 100.
3. yes, that also applies to imbued LIs at high levels (above 100)
The thing is LI system is going to be revamped soon (maybe this year), so everything above may change. If you are going to level quickly 50-100+ then above answers apply, otherwise don’t bother with that too much for now…
There’s a whole loot crate “culture” out there for geeks who love the mystery surprise. Usually the MSRP of the individual items, or the company would get a lot of blowback.
My guess is that this might be some test marketing in advance of the Amazon Prime LOTR series. The company may be gauging interest in RL loot.
Housewares, btw, probably means along the lines of glassware or coffee mugs. I think ‘soft’ housewares, such as bed linens would be hard to manufacture economically enough for a $50 crate.
