New Player Question

What is the deal with kinships? Pros and cons of joining?

Week In LOTRO

Karvett

  • Karvett followed the Epic out of the Great River and is leveling again in the East Wall.
  • Bellenin and Alkarvyn quested out of Durin’s Way and are catching up on the Epic through the Dolven View.
  • Karvion, my LotrOCD warden, just finished dealing with the Rumors and Romance in Staddle and the associated slayer deeds in the Midgewater.  Moved him to the Shire to run pies with Teriadwyn at a later date.

Maven

  • Glordriel Arrowmaven is now level 100, which is good and bad news
  • Missed my chance to escort Eowyn to Dunharrow (and earn a trait point) …. very disappointed
  • Visited the Eyes and Guard Tavern on Bullroarer for the first time, getting Glordriel-on-beta ready to check out the U16 area
  • Teri took me through all the epic battles so I didn’t get stopped in the epic story….phew!  (then finished with a detailed tour of Dol Amroth)

Lilikate

  • I completed a few quests! In Pelargir (Freeing slaves, Bossing Guards about and feeding the Hungry) and some in the Flaming Deeps! (Orc mass murder, to make all Hobbit Lass’s Happy).
  • Music Testing – No surprise. Music Playing.
  • Crafted on Crickhollow to be able to make Forest Green Dye – Farming.
  • Concert By TSO for the Rivendell Cup. LMB Book Club.

Arathaert

  • L.UN.C.H. – Snowbourne didn’t yet finish, Arkenstone slotted into 4th with a 1:29:48
  • Had a great, in-depth discussion about TP and its various forms
  • Worked a bit on the Guardian – LI U16 prep!

Pineleaf

  • Created a dwarf minstrel on Dwarrowdelf and reached level 15. It’s been a while since I did the dwarf prologue. This is the first time that I decided to kill the sig just outside the stronghold while in the rescue instance rather than on the landscape.
  • In my Beorning series, I completed Book 13 and am through most of Book 14. This is where they introduced the wonderful world of session plays, where power is a pain.
  • Saw that there are players who actually race war steeds in Rivendell.
  • Started a Minecraft series where I am to do builds related to the various skirmishes.

Teriadwyn

  • Led the way for Mythgard Monday’s tour of Goblin-Town.
  • Started rebuilding Hytbold on my Hunter.
  • Still doing Central Gondor dailies on Teriadwyn trying to get the rat for my burglar.

Andang

  • Did a bit of PvMP

Featured Comments

Barnabras left a comment on the prediction article:

“Travelers tip, never visit Mt. Doom during the ring melting season. Wait till the off season. But most importantly do you think we will finally be able to visit the Stonebeans?”

Berenthalion also left a comment on the prediction article:

“I would much rather see the Scourging of the Shire and the Gray Havens than Rhun or Harad. Before we get there, The black gate and the Morgul Vale is a must too in my opinion. I would hope we get to see Cirith Ungol in some way too, a Frodo /Sam session play and a raid later too.

The second half of 2017 really has to be the Gray Havens and prepping to wave Gandalf , Frodo and elrond off into the west. Nothing else would beat that IMO. Plus that’s a lot of work as someone is going to have to carry Elrond all across Eriador in his library as he literally can’t leave it.”

Braag also left a comment on the prediction article:

“Assuming we get a good, long, hard look at Mordor and after the scouring of the shire of course, I would be most interested in either:

– Destroying the Mumakil pits in Harad with Aragorn

– Or venturing into Rhun to find out what happened to the two Blue Wizards! THAT could be a compelling plotline with enough ambiguity around it to give Turbine lots of room for creative license! Did they stem the flow of troops to Sauron and aid in the War of the Ring? Did one get corrupted like Saruman while the other strove against him??

Cheers, Braag of Vilya”

Emails

DJPimpDaddy writes:

“At levels above the first 30, like midgame and endgame, which usually provides better equipment for solo play: quest drops / Skirmish Camps / Solo Skirmish drops / Critical Crafting?

I have been playing for 3+ years now and I recently started messing around more with crafting (or AH purchases). Yet I hear on various podcasts that Skirmish camps are a way to get decent gear. My main is sitting at level 50 with a Stone of Tortoise in Angmar.  Being a Gaurdian is making the journey fun, but sometimes I feel playing solo requires a tad more planning and protection.  Potions are my friend!  So far I have survived almost 100% off of quest drops. In the past 2 weeks I caught the altaholic bug and now have a character with all professions so the crafting route is looking a lot sweeter. Feel free to pass the question around since we all know what answer Pineleaf will give.

Anyways, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.  (Let me know if Beetlejuice pops out next to Pineleaf after he reads that out loud)

Wow, Arathaert. I’m in the Rangers of the West. Maybe , at some point Arathaert can make an appearance in The Family Line :p

    • Teriadwyn /

This needs to happen. Send him some in-game mail or something to work it out!

  2. Glad you all enjoyed my library joke and pineleaf made his first pronunciation error on the name this week. He’d been doing so well 😀
