Middle-earth Shadow Of War Mobile Coming This Fall

Warner Bros announced today that it’s bringing Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, a free-to-play real-time RPG, to mobile this fall. The game will follow the adventures of Talion (the hero of Shadow of Mordor PC game) through Mordor, and will feature all kinds of familiar characters from both the last PC game and, of course, The Lord of the Rings. Expect to see Celebrimbor, Eltariel, Gimli, Boromir , and more.

IUGO Mobile Entertainment is developing Shadow of War for mobile. The studio has experience turning popular brands into mobile RPGs with The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, which has made over $168 million from in-app purchases. The series’ famed Nemesis system will still be a part of the mobile game, so you can still create your own orc army while running into enemies that remember your past encounters.

You can pre-register starting right now, and if you do, you will receive an exclusive character bundle featuring Ratbag and an Orc starter army. If you pre-register for Android, you’ll get a version of Shelob in her fair form character, playable for the first time.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War Announcement Trailer

Over the weekend, there were some rumors and leaks that took over the internet.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Studios have officially revealed Middle-earth: Shadow of Warthe sequel to the successful 2014 release, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The newly revealed press release confirms that the story will continue to follow the fallen Gondor Ranger Talion along with his Elven spirit companion Celebrimbor, as they work behind enemy lines to try and turn Mordor against the rising power of the Dark Lord Sauron. To aid them in this quest is a newly forged ring of power as Talion attempts to build his own army to oppose his enemies.

We don’t know too much about the gameplay, but the game promises to expand upon the Nemesis System by adding new elements into it including factors such as loyalty, betrayal, and revenge. The trailer hints at more things to come, including a look at Talion forging the new ring in the fires of Mount Doom, new locations seen previously in the Lord of the Rings movies like Minas Morgul, and even potentially new enemies to battle, including what appears to be a heavily armored balrog creature and the Witch King of Angmar.

We will get some more information soon, as a game play reveal is planned for next week on March 8, 2017. The press release also confirms that the Middle-earth: Shadow of War launches this coming August, and interestingly enough, the game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro and Microsoft’s upcoming Project Scorpio, making it the first officially announced title for the console.
