Middle-earth: Shadow of War Pays Homage To Late Developer

One of the things that stand out to most people about Tolkien’s world of Middle-earth has many recognizable characters. But one character that won’t be found in any Lord of the Rings lore is Forthog Orc-slayer. He will be found in the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of War as a tribute to executive producer Michael Forgey, who passed away from cancer earlier in the game’s development.

Developer Monolith and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive felt the loss of their friend Forgey’s death, and the two teams wanted to do something to remember him.

“Mike was larger than life, Mike was an incredible inspiration to our team. He was our front man in many respects. Everybody loved Mike.” Monolith boss Kevin Stephens

Forthog will appear as a “mysterious savior” in game, likely to appear when heroes are in trouble. The end of the trailer we see Forthog charging into a group of orcs, and then the scene is obscured by a blizzard.

“He’s going to the Undying Lands, He’s embracing that.” art director Phil Straub

The DLC will be available on October 10, the same day Middle-earth: Shadow of War releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will cost $4.99, but Warner Bros. said it will donate $3.50 of each purchase through December 31 to Forgey’s wife and three children. *USA ONLY – (exc. AL, HI, IL, MA, MS, SC) Void where prohibited. Purchase is not tax deductible. *

The DLC is already available for pre-order on Steam.

Pretty much just hits right in the old feels, don’t it?

Middle-earth: Shadow of War Orc Tales Trailer

Monolith Studios have released a new trailer video for Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, this time focusing on our friends the Orcs, We get to see inside the mind of the Orc, and what they remember.

Rather than just being potential enemies, the Orcs, uruks, and trolls of Shadow of War can join Talion’s Warband. If you spare a particularly strong troll or save the life of a talented orc archer, they’ll abandon their previous tribe and rally behind the Bright Lord. Though you might run into trolls who escaped the fight with an eye missing, uruks who managed to take down Talion in a skirmish, and ambitious orcs with something to prove. Just as you build an inner circle, you can bet there is a group of disgruntled orcs ready to take revenge for the time you left them for dead. Everyone remembers everything. Keep that in mind.

Middle-earth: Shadow Of War releases October 10, 2017.  You can preorder now for PC via Steam or Amazon.  Consoles PS4 and Xbox One.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War Shelob Makes Her Debut

San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing, and with that comes all the panels, and the news that comes with them.  Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Productions have released a new trailer for the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of War online revealing that the infamous spider Shelob will appear in the game.

Developed by Monolith Productions, Middle-earth: Shadow of War features an original story with the return of Talion and Celebrimbor, who must go behind enemy lines to forge an army and turn all of Mordor against the Dark Lord, Sauron. Players wield a new Ring of Power and confront the deadliest of enemies, including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-earth. The open-world action-adventure game is brought to life through the expansion of the award-winning Nemesis System. The robust personalization from the first game is now applied to the entire world where the environments and characters are all shaped by player actions and decisions, creating a personal world unique to every gameplay experience.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War was recently delayed from an August 22 release date to an October 10 release date. It will be available for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 upon release.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War Announcement Trailer

Over the weekend, there were some rumors and leaks that took over the internet.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Studios have officially revealed Middle-earth: Shadow of Warthe sequel to the successful 2014 release, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The newly revealed press release confirms that the story will continue to follow the fallen Gondor Ranger Talion along with his Elven spirit companion Celebrimbor, as they work behind enemy lines to try and turn Mordor against the rising power of the Dark Lord Sauron. To aid them in this quest is a newly forged ring of power as Talion attempts to build his own army to oppose his enemies.

We don’t know too much about the gameplay, but the game promises to expand upon the Nemesis System by adding new elements into it including factors such as loyalty, betrayal, and revenge. The trailer hints at more things to come, including a look at Talion forging the new ring in the fires of Mount Doom, new locations seen previously in the Lord of the Rings movies like Minas Morgul, and even potentially new enemies to battle, including what appears to be a heavily armored balrog creature and the Witch King of Angmar.

We will get some more information soon, as a game play reveal is planned for next week on March 8, 2017. The press release also confirms that the Middle-earth: Shadow of War launches this coming August, and interestingly enough, the game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro and Microsoft’s upcoming Project Scorpio, making it the first officially announced title for the console.
