Sincerely, Cyndars: 7/17/26

Dear Reader,

This last week I’ve found my motivation lacking, at least partially due to the latest heat. I’ve also spent a lot of time bemoaning the changes life brings us, like kids growing up while trying to avoid adult responsibilities by binge reading a book series. It doesn’t really work, but I did get a lot done, I just have a lot left to do. I suppose that means next week’s letter will be longer. I did get out into my garden, and pulled weeds. I have corn, beans, and what I believe are watermelons up. There are tomatoes on the vine, carrots, and some salad greens up as well. The strawberry roots I planted are also taking off with the heat, convincing them to produce fruit later than normal. While I got a lot of weeds pulled, there are more to do; it’s just been getting really hot, really fast.

I also started baking for the tea party tomorrow, but since most of it needs to be freshly made, there aren’t lots of pictures to show you. I did experiment with a raspberry oatmeal scone recipe, and it turned out fairly well. My son said they tasted good, but were very dry. I also started to make the pink lemonade cookies, and to quote Crister, they sound “very pink.” He’s not wrong. I got as far as making the dough, and rolling it into the prescribed log before refrigerating it to harden enough to slice and roll through pink sprinkles. I’ll do that later on today so they can be cooled and ready to ice in the morning. The dough is absolutely delicious, giving me great hope for the cookies themselves.

This week, I’m attaching pictures of the garden: pre-weeding, during weeding, and when I stopped. I’m also including pictures of the dough for the cookies and of the scones. Next time I’ll have pictures of the whole spread, and stories from the tea party. I can’t wait!

Sincerely,
