New Player Question
While fishing at the Farmer’s Faire, I kept getting the message “you cannot take that.” Is it an error or a game mechanic, and what does it mean?
Week In LOTRO
Teriadwyn
- Landroval!Teriadwyn has finally finished the Lay of Rust and Rime!
- Welldressed Killingmachine has made it to level 30 and is back on epic questing in the Lone Lands.
- Made a new high elf rune-keeper on Gladden and received a gift from a random player, no strings attached.
- Ran around with Pineleaf and Sans on lowbie characters with Sparebear: as 3 of the most OP classes in the game, we did the epic Othrongroth instance at levels 16 and 17.
Cyndars
- Girrlz went riddling in Evendim
- My Champion picked up a couple levels during the academy run Friday evening, and discovered the corpses she had so carefully buried in the prologue were visible once more. She was quite disappointed.
- Sanswinda and I started two new hunters on Arkenstone, with the goal of levelling them quickly.
Pineleaf
- My mid-range warden reached the Haunted Inn and struck against Dannenglor.
- My burglar delivered some drinks to some dwarves for a premature celebration.
- During a Tuckborough run, I reached the courtyard and made my usual attempt at pulling the near lieutenant without pulling the far one. Instead, I somehow pulled the far without the nearer, which I don’t recall ever doing before.

“While fishing at the Farmer’s Faire, I kept getting the message “you cannot take that.” Is it an error or a game mechanic, and what does it mean?”
You get this message while doing quest to fish several items. You have random chance to get one of required pieces or something else. Once you get one or more items you still have same chance for each item, even those you already have. If you fish item you already have you get that message (the more items you already have the more chance for that message). Many quest items work this way in Lotro, including legendary pages for lvl39 quest (except you don’t see any message), that’s why last page is hardest to get 🙂
