The patch notes for today’s hotfix are now available on the forums
It’s pretty much we all thought it would be.
We have fixed and exploit which was allowing players to become more powerful than we intended.
I think this will be the most debated
- We have placed level restrictions on the following reputation items. Players now must be at least the level listed next to the item below in order to gain reputation from the item. We will of course monitor the feedback on the levels of these items and make any needed adjustments.

So what do yo think of the Reputation changes?
I still see some flaws in the levels required to use some reputation items, based on the levels of opponents that drop them and quests that reward them. It’s nothing game-breaking, but it means some players will occasionally get items they can’t use for a few more levels.
At least by doing this with a client hotfix this time, item tooltips will tell players what level they need to be. (With the previous server-side change, players just got a generic error message stating, “Your level is too low.”)
None of these changes will significantly affect my gameplay, but I’m glad Turbine at least took the time to get some feedback this time around.
I thought it might address the lag issues some of us are having, namely on brandywine… (haven’t played since Sunday, don’t know if it’s better now)
The mathoms definitely need some adjustments: gift mathoms are “bind on acquire” anyway, so no need to even have a min level for those.
And regular/well-kept mathoms drop so early, a min level of 20 or 25 would be much more reasonable.
Aside from those, it looks balanced enough.
Well, this wasn’t exactly what I thought would encompass this hotfix, especially after I thought I read there would be some further discussion after holiday break before a change involving reputation items was implemented. My guess would have probably leaned toward some of the reports of lag on several servers.
I would have been in the crowd who would have voted to simply remove reputation items from the skirmish camp, especially if the offenders that triggered this change originated from “Create Beorning, whip through intro in a couple minutes, visit skirmish camp, toss the relatively small amount of marks for huge TP returns.”
As someone who has physically gone out and farmed for reputation items (one character at a time, even if multiboxing is allowable for this means) – even so far as to create a guide to try and help others by offering locations for doing so, this isn’t exactly the change I wanted to ultimately see happen. Still, I roll with all sorts of changes in MMOs, and as a free player (“premium,” in this case), this dude shall abide.
You know how it goes Zyngor, ups and downs gutters and strikes. There’s allot of ins, lotta outs, lotta what have yous’. Until new information comes to light, we’ll just have to wait for Larry to do his homework. And well, you know, that’s what, that’s what you pay me for man.
I was against level restricting the items, and instead putting the marks price up. Exactly for this reason, they are too incompetent to set the items at the right level. If they actually could set the levels right , and to be fair they only got a couple wrong, it would be just fine.
