I’m often concerned with the number of proper nouns I use in this show; if you’ve never read the Silmarillion, it can be a problem. Who are the Noldor? The Vanyar? The Edain? Who are the Valar? My hope is that this episode will fill in some of those gaps for those of you less familiar with the deeper histories of Middle-earth.
I am joined by the illustrious Alberos of LotROCast as we tackle the difficult prospect of summarizing the basics of Tolkien’s mythical context in under an hour. Let’s go!
I apologize for the length (but not really). With so much good stuff I found it very hard to edit down. If you’d like more information, here are some links to help you out:
- Silmarillion Wiki page
- The Tolkien Professor
- Intro to the Histories of Middle-earth
- Where on Earth was Middle-earth?
There is a wealth of information out there so a simple Google search will get you many many more podcasts and websites.
Thanks for listening and check back in two weeks when we go beneath your feet in Lake Evendim.
This week’s music:
-The Brigand’s Tale by Chance Thomas (LotRO Soundtrack)
-Vale of Imladris by Chance Thomas (LotRO Soundtrack)
