Beneath Your Feet 08: Brandywine Bridge

Ah, the Bridge. It’s the first sight a traveler sees before crossing the Baranduin into the Little Land. This week I have a long, hard look at that Bridge and we see who’s made it and why, and why it has everything to do with the Shire. Enjoy!

This was a fun, short episode as it’s just a small bit of real estate in Middle-earth (but an important one!). There is actually a fair bit of information to be found on such a small landmark. Once again, there is naught too little in Middle-earth to make a 10 minute podcast on! I find the symbolism striking as well, how the Dunedain (Rangers) inadvertently looked after the Hobbits even before the time of their decline and wandering and ultimately bequeathed the bridge to the Shire as a symbol of matriculation, if you will.

Here are some screens and this week’s tunes!

This week’s music…
The Rabbit Room by The Lonely Mountain Band [buy]
Under the Bridge by The Red Hot Chili Peppers [buy]

Yay… You noticed the gate on the bridge that should not be there!
It’s also a shame we can’t access the Bridge Inn, but at least it is there. Great show Shipwreck.
