Some additional tips:
1. You can find forges/workbenches/ovens on the large map by adjusting your filter settings and mousing over the forge icon to see what it is. There are many isolated crafting locations in the starter areas.
2. You will want (or need!) to buy crafting supplies from novices/experts in your profession or suppliers. Not all crafting locations have these people available so factor that into your crafting runs.
3. For your first main character, definitely choose a vocation with two “gathering” professions. Gathered items are a reliable and fast way to make coin, or to level up your own producing professions.
