The Song
This parody of In the End by Linkin Park (remix with Mellen Gi & Tommee Profitt) envisages as its scene one of the Noldor reflecting upon the flight of the Noldori from Valinor at the instigation of Fëanor: how all their efforts to build lasting kingdoms in Middle Earth have been frustrated by the constant attacks of the Dark Lord and his servants, and leaving them to mourn their fading strength and power as the Children of the Sun, the Sons of Men, come into their domination of Middle Earth in the Fourth Age.
Song Recording
Viewers familiar with the original song will note this stripped-down remix dispenses completely with Linkin Park’s rap verses: leaving only the vocal chorus sections to be remixed in this slower-tempo, elegiac version. This remix allows for greater expression for vocal harmonies which I’ve experimented with, to better express the poignancy of the themes as narrated by Tolkien in his Silmarillion.
Lyrics
Noldor Reflection
V1:
It starts with one:
Lord Fëanor.
It has begun
Farewell Valinor.Ch:
He tried so hard. He got so far.
But in the end, his effort didn’t matter.
When he did fall, he lost it all.
It was his end – not the end of the matter.V2:
The Eldar go.
‘Tis the Age of Man.
So few now know
How things began.Ch:
We tried so hard. We got so far.
But in the end, our effort little matters.
We rose. We fall. We lose it all.
It is our end – our ending in this matter.
