New Player Question

Do you have to do every quest in the Epic Story line, or are there quests/sections you can skip?

Week In LOTRO

Teriadwyn

  • Teriadwyn finally made it to the Grey Mountains! No dragons yet, because the dwarves we’re babysitting required snacks and blankies for their sleepovers.
  • Played Moors Tour Guide after last week’s podcast, may have discovered a new career in the Moors if it continues to stay empty.
  • New cosmetics storage alt, Mannoquin, the brother of Captain Storrage.

Sanswinda

  • Enjoyed another week of romping on the moors while the freeps were pinned down at GV.
  • Finally reached level 100 on Arkenstone.
  • Got to run around super fast again, before being sent to polish stones along the road.

Aerindys

  • Created Rinstalker the warg and went warging with Sans, Teri, and Cyndars for the first official time
  • Worked on the Epic Story and attempted doing a Fellowship quest instance several levels under (Vol. 2, Book 4, Chap. 7). It went about as well as you would think. 🙂

Pineleaf

  • My Arkenstone Rune-keeper quested with a dog in the Wastes.
  • I learned that you need to click on Nori’s key before entering his home if you want to avoid losing the key forever.
  • My warden on Gladden joined the Rangers in the West in earning a skull key.

  1. Concerning new player question. Yes, you can skip some books (not single quest within book though) of Epic but it’s hard to know which. Even lotro-wiki seems to don’t have this info.
For example in vol.I you can skip book 4 and 5 and do book 6 instead (if your level is high enough). However you can’t start book 5 without finishing book 4. You can also start each volume separately provided your level is high enough.
In general most of epic books have to be done in order, those that can be skipped are related to past updates. Devs usually decided to allow people do newly released book without finishing previous one, so they could do it with friends for example and catch up with past books later.
For new player it’s definitely recommended to do all epic in order (especially within same volume), since it’s usually really good story and good rewards on level.
