Each year LOTRO’s Laurelin server hosts the “Harnkegger Games,” a multi-day games event created and run by the LOTRO community. This year the events will begin August 31st.
If Middle-earth would have had some kind of Olympic Games, this would be it! There are 15 Events spread over 7 days and a shipload of prizes to be won.
Turbine sponsors this event each year and this year a massive 30,000 Turbine Points can be won! There is also loads of in-game gold and other goodies that will be in-game prizes.
The event has grown exponentially each year, from a 2 day event with 5 events in 2012 to a 7 day event with 15 events this year. The same can be said concerning the number of competitors, with 50 players joining the fun in the first edition back in 2012 to over 300 competitors in last year’s Games.
This year, considering the amount of events, days, and the biggest prize hoard yet, the event should be even bigger.
Reaction from a Harnkegger Games III organizer:
“For me The Harnkegger Games is the most fun player-game-event in Lotro, we’ve got people coming back each year, messaging us months in advance asking when the next one is. The amazing thing about these Games is the camaraderie between the contestants.. people cheering each-other on, that’s what I do it for! I would not miss this for the world!”
Reaction from a Harnkegger Games III contestant:
“Sure the Turbine Points are fantastic, but I’m here for the fun. And there is just no event like this in the whole of Lotro”
