How do the trait trees work? How do I get points? Does each color have the same “operational theme” for each class? How do I know which one to pick? Should I keep more than one tree up to date?
Week In LOTRO
Maven
- Glordriel achieved World Renowned status, got a new outfit to celebrate
- I finally figured out what was keeping me from the instance to accompany Eowyn to Dunharrow and completed that
- Now trying to coax Teri to Fangorn so we can earn baby huorns
Karvett
- Helped Maven’s LM get his LI. (which you probably shouldn’t have done, since you were so sick!!! Maven feels guilty) BUT I did bust a myth about a certain squidy that will NOT eat you before he’s supposed to. That’s right!!!!
- Deeded Carn Dum
- Attempted to stream with Mrs Karv, had PC issues. Very sad.
Arathaert
- Interwebs broke, so almost no streaming this week, ergo no L.UN.C.H.
- Got my two bridles! Now to level and relic them up.
- Got another piece of essence gear and had fun with it 🙂
- Gettin’ ready for Update 16 by makin’ sure I’m caught up with the Central Gondor story.
Teriadwyn
- Skirmished with Pineleaf!!!
- Carn Dum deeds with the Tuesday group (died the least of anyone in the group, yay!)
- Ran the Defense of the Prancing Pony and then did some slaying for rep in the Lone Lands with Maven (Teriadwyn is my first character ever to get Kindred with the Eglain)
Pineleaf
- Skirmished with Teriadwyn!!! (Ford of Bruinen)
- Started volume 2 of my Beorning series. Ran the quests leading up to Dolven View.
- While running Eregion with my Arkenstone Lore-master, I received a level-50 slotted item. This is the first time I ever saw a low-level slotted item.
Andang
- Wandered around Middle-earth

TIPSY in lotro: My fav occurrence is the Moria drinking farewell quest chain…
https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:In_His_Memory
Brewing and Pipe weed was a big thing in the early game; nowadays is not so visible (no more beers have been introduced in ages) But with the birth of ale/beer crafting I am pretty sure TURBINE are missing a great marketing tool… how about a LOTRO Player craft beer collection?
Arathaert Ale
Like an arrow to the heart: powerful brew.
Karvett Stout
Pour this beer on your collar: a truly distinctive beer
Maven Beer
A hearty beer that hits one in the stomach quite expertly
Teriadwyn Ale
A pale ale which requires bravery to drink
Pineleaf Lager
Piney with a fresh yet sharp hint of forest that prickles the tongue.
Andang Ale
A red ale, almost flaming beer, with a spicy finish.
Lilikate Lager
A beer with melodic mix of italian grappa and london gin overtones, and a tricky tinki hidden in the background.
GUEST BEERS
Drac elA
A bloody punch in the face of a beer
Braxwolf Porter
A dark ale which imparts the beneficial qualities of the hair of the wolf that bit you the night before before making you run off to howl at the moon!
Ethelros Ale
A brainy beer from Wales, not a pale imitation. Made from coals in da valleys!
Also tipsy LOTRO play in RW … been there but sleep is my biggest enemy, have woken up with face on the keyboard a couple of times!
BALROG SONG AWESOME! Needs a video! 🙂
Fangorn sounds great, I was also disappointed by Mirkwood…too empty (of mobs) let alone trees…
Pine leaf suggested:
That ork chopped trees.
Ork on a Fork in denial.
Pines and leaves…
Oops longer than intended: great show though 🙂

Hail, and well-met.
I stumbled across this poll from a few months back (https://lotroplayers.com/2014/12/07/poll-would-you-listen-to-a-lotro-players-role-playing-podcast/) asking if there was interest in a show with the hosts doing a role-play show. I notice there’s only a 25% “no” response (interpreting the amalgamation of all the other responses as a 75% “yes” response), and was wondering if there were any plans to follow through with the idea. (I understand between all the upcoming LotRO stuff and the Secret Project, there’s been a lot to keep your attention!)
At any rate, I think a LotRO role-play campaign would be very interesting to see play out. If you do decide to try this out, I would be equally interested in GMing the match (I’d imagine you’d want as many of the hosts as possible to participate as players), or at least in helping with the set-up or production. Lately I have been investigating various rulesets and working on campaign settings as a side hobby, and can recommend a few mechanics and resources for making an RPG podcast a reality, depending on the flavour and focus you’d like for the show.
If you’ve scuppered the plans for such a show, feel free to disregard much of the above.
Looking forward to seeing the Secret Project unfold. Keep up the good work! I think 2015 is going to continue being an interesting year.
Best,
Grey

Thanks for listening!
I think turbine had seen a lot of negative feedback on the RNG loot that came with RoR.
Those gold class items were a huge pull factor for running a wide variety of instances, but with their being a low drop rate with no barter option. For example I got a couple of gold items from sambrog and Ost elendil. I got mine before I’d done double figures in total runs of each, where as othgers claimed to have done hundreds with no luck.
Finally if you got a. Second gold item it was BoA so no way to give it to a kinnie or someone else in the group.
The anxiety about ninja looting will hopefully not be proven wise, usually someone gets a bad reputation pretty quickly and then it’s easy to avoid them.
What a fun show:) And the bloopers do add a level of flirtatiousness to the proceedings 🙂 Nice to see the new team is getting along so well 🙂
Re: beer names…
Tsu word play is odd I must admit
Beer names explained would induce a fit
Don’t search for sense in senselessness
Don’t seek inebriation in normalness
But merriment and enlightenment
Can be found in Lotro Player a’news’ment…
Great show, everyone!
I just wanted to mention that, if anyone has more questions about trait points and how they are acquired, the Lotro-wiki has a wonderful page that details things here:
