Dear LOTRO Players,
This time last week, many LOTRO players were still partying hard on the icy lake by Thorin’s Gate. There were so many visitors we had to spend some of that time Layer Wrangling.
On behalf of The Lonely Mountain Band Kinship on Landroval I would like to thank every one who came to perform and also to support this musical event.
I have a pair of reviews I would like to republish then I will follow with some information about where you can watch video of the 32 Bands who performed over that long weekend. (Is that 33 if we include Troll Finger?)

Winterstock 2015
Volumes could be written to describe the sheer rapture of music that rang off the snowy
mountains surrounding Thorin’s Gate during Winterstock II. For four days Dwarves, Hobbits,
Elves, Men and Women gathered on the icy pond near the Silver Deep Mine and immersed themselves in splendid music from 32 bands across Middle Earth. The music was incredible; the camaraderie was splendid; the dancing was practiced; the vending was delightful; and the spirit of it all was incomparable. The Lonely Mountain Band profoundly thanks all the well-polished and uber-prepared bands, as well as the enthusiastic and dedicated audience. An acknowledgement of thanks is also merited to LMB’s own kin members, who worked so hard to make Winterstock 2015 a resounding success.
Space and time limit my ability to describe each performance, but I will do my best to acknowledge every band, all of whom put their hearts and bountiful talent into producing a tremendous event.
Day One saw the debut of LMB’s Winterstock theme song, leading to the opening act of Crazy Ladies of the Forest. Four ladies gathered amidst the oldest trees, just before moon rise and dawn, playing their favorite song, “we love song and dance,” and that very fittingly set the stage for four overflowing days. After “cracking the ice” for all of us, the Crazy Ladies of Laurelin were followed by Die Bunten Vogel from Belegaer. They were one of the newest bands to play on Landroval, but now we are all clamoring for much more, it was so exquisite. The Travelling Bilberries brought their polished and charming act (including some great Potty lyrics!) from Laurelin. A Rock and a Hard Place, Bruzo and his talented gang, thrilled the crowd with eclectic and inventive numbers and teamed with Belegaer’s Die Mondbarden for A Rock and a Mondbarden megaband interlude, before Die Mondbarden went it alone with a full set of hot, hot rhythms. DisEnchanted closed out the first afternoon with an expanded band that really rocked the region under Sir WeeTodd’s direction.
Day One’s evening show brought us three class acts, each very distinct from the other. Da Bugans ushered in the Dwarven evening with their bone chilling bass and deep, dark lyrics…setting us on fire, nonetheless. Grayhawke from Circle of the King kin delivered a lilting set of mystery and beauty. Bright Star, known for their wonderful performances “in the park” was shining bright to see us through the night—extremely well done, all three bands!
Saturday, Day Two of Winterstock 2015 was the longest day of the event, with six renowned bands in the afternoon show, beginning with Breakfast Club at noon. Hailing from Crickhollow under the direction of Dallofin, they set the standard for tremendously good music and lyrics. Die Meisterbarden von Bree travelled from Vanyar and put on the highly polished and professional show we all have come to expect from this amazing band. The Starlight Orchestra, the first of the Lonely Mountain Band’s house bands to perform, completely turned the tables on the crowd, as Lillikate Buggins and her orchestra presented the history of classical music through representative pieces through the ages. Notenzauber, hailing from Belegaer, provided a multitude of musical treats, including great use of pipes, pibbys and cowbells. A great deal of affection flowed out from the crowd as Under the Sunlit Sky performed some rousing and enchanting pieces. The last class act of the afternoon was The Remediators, performing a wide range of very pleasing songs. No Whole Bard, with roots in Elendimir, set the stage for the long evening performance this day, with a wide range of musical numbers. Runic Knights orchestra followed, with something for everyone, each unique piece delivered with perfection. Animal House completely rocked the night just like they do in Bree-town on a Saturday night. The night ended on a prolonged note from another LMB house band, the infamous Bards, Beers & LongBeards, aka BBB, who brought the crowd’s spirits to a rousing and wild crescendo!
Sunday brought us Day Three of Winterstock. Thanks to Master Zedrock and his Bara Bahau, whom we couldn’t live without, all the broken ice skating ankles and jaded spirits from too much carousing the night before simply vanished in a twinkle as he gave us some hugely exciting and unexpected power tunes. From Laurelin, The Songburrow Strollers showered us in tribute hobbit hats and delighted us with their charming set list. What a joy that they brought their famous bounce dance to Landroval! Muckin’ Fuddle from Gilrain blasted us off with their signature Muppet song and that set the stage for a really fun hour of high energy music and dance. Les Chantefables, a well-known French band from Estel and Sirannon, opened with an icy love song that carried through an hour of gorgeous numbers. The close out act of the afternoon was the third LMB house band to perform, Andune Ensemble. Under the direction of Geoffroi, they excited everyone with a mostly-classic rock set that melted the pond ice and resonated through the mountain peaks. An afternoon band, indeed!
Sunday evening brought “only” two bands but they played long and hard for the adoring crowd assembled at the Thorin’s Gate. P.I.E. delivered, as promised, superlative pop music all the way and Rhunt showed us some skilled showmanship from the first memorable note. Les Beaux
Chapeaux and Troll Finger brought us fantastic music and lyrics, splendidly fancy hats, and a ton of bunnyhugs from the indefatigable Miss Fincin, carrying Winterstock well into the next day with blissful music.
Day Four of Winterstock saw an afternoon of perfect melody from bands all hailing from other servers. One could never forget “the dawning of the age of asparagus” and the hobbit lass can-can delivered by the next band…The Little Wanderers from Eldar may have all been small folk but their melody was BIG—and hugely fun. The Heartbeaters played wonderful Dwarrow music with hauntingly lovely lyrics under the direction of Barkgrim. They were very generous with their ale in the Green Room, by the way…Also from Laurelin, along with The Heartbeaters, was the combined talents of Brandywine and Biscuits. They polished off the afternoon with a perfect play set of lilting tunes. We hope they had a safe journey home to keep the fires stoked and the musical notes drifting at the Green Dragon Inn in Bywater.
The final hours of Winterstock were memorable, with Maidens of Vanimor singing beguiling lyrics to lovely tunes…Talent abounds here and the collection of songs dubbed “Supper’s Ready” was a work of art. Green Hill Music Society, a long-playing band from Landroval, blazed the night sky with their very first number, With You and Without You, and GHMS took all of us with them through their marvelous set. Last up in Winterstock: Old Winyards, the fourth and final house band from the hosts, Lonely Mountain Band…exciting, vibrant songs, and, as expected, they so rocked the gates of Thorin’s hall, it will never be the same again.
How can one sum up four days of utterly delightful Middle Earth music? I urge you to relive the moments and capture the special magic through viewing the many online streams and videos, links to which are easily obtained through LMB, the forums and social media. Winterstock 2015, we salute you and, despite the wintery chill, you will ever live on in our warmest memories!

Winterstock Festival – Tag 1: let’s get the Party started
Hallo liebe Leser, oder wie man auf Landrovalisch auch sagt: »Hullo!«
Gestern Nacht war ich wieder in der landrovalischen Gegend für euch unterwegs und dieses Mal, führte mich der Weg nach Thorins Tor zu den Zwergen unter den Bergen, wo am Wochenende an drei Tagen das »Winterstock Festival 2015« Presented by The Lonely Mountain Band mit insgesamt unglaublichen 32 Kapellen stattfindet.
Gemeinsam mit meinen Freundinnen Azaline, Lieseline und Rubinette machte ich mich auf die Reise nach Thorins Tor, wo wir gestern Abend so gegen halb acht eingetroffen sind. Ich traute meinen Augen nicht, als ich sah, wo die erste Band stand und die ganzen Besucher darum, es war auf einem zugefrorenen See! Ich war mir unsicher, ob das Eis halten würde, da der Boden bebte! Ich näherte mich also vorsichtig der Veranstaltung und war überrascht, es war volles Haus und die Kapelle »The Crazy Ladies of the Forest« spielte grade und die Besucher tanzten zu den schönen Rhythmen, welche die Kapelle spielte.
Ich begrüßte bekannte Gesichter – wie Fräulein Floradine von der Lonely Mountain Band, Tunvil Wintermond nebst Ehemann und Tochter, Kirgon Stahlhammer welcher, war ja klar weil er recht umtriebig, auf vielen Veranstaltungen anzutreffen ist und später auch Fräulein Ranidia die wieder feinst gekleidet hopste.
Als zweite Kapelle an diesem Abend spielten »Die bunten Vögel« welche, wie man ja von Ihnen gewohnt ist, die Besucher mit Ihren wunderschönen mittelalterlichen Rockballaden verzauberte. Natürlich spielten sie auch diesen Hit »Troll-Tanz« ich sag euch das war unglaublich alle machten mit und sangen »Thats like the Trolldances!« und trommelten für die »Bunten Vögel« so das vermutlich auch Sauron in Mordor das hören konnte!
Nach einem riesigen Applaus für die bunten Vögel ging es dann auch schon weiter und es spielten noch die Kapellen »The Travelling Bilberries« eine Hobbitla Kapelle vom feinsten, »A Rock And A Hard Place« die dann nach Ihrem Auftritt zusammen mit den »Mondbarden« ein Lied spielten, was von den Besuchern als eine wunderschöne Geste wohlwollend aufgenommen wurde.
Dann war es soweit die »Mondbarden« hatten nun ihren Auftritt, positionierten sich und spielten in schönen Soft Rhythmen auf und gewannen die Zuschauer welche es ihnen dankten in dem sie fein hopsten und laut gerufen wurde: »Amazing Mondbarden!«
Die Mondbarden hatten sich eine spezielle Kapellen Kleidung ausgedacht, ich hatte sie schon ein paar Tage zu vor in Bree erwischt wie sie ihre Kleidung anprobierten und ganz ehrlich der Kirgon der sah aus wie ein echter Wintergarten Zwerg, welche ja sehr selten sind und man sie kaum zu Gesicht bekommt!
Aber was wäre eine Veranstaltung ohne Störenfriede liebe Leser, letztes Jahr entführte ja dieser Sauron den armen Thorwien, die iBeth berichtete, aber dieses Mal blieben die Mondbarden verschont und es blieb bei einem Besucher, der sich ziemlich daneben benommen hatte. Dieser jedoch wurde, dank der wunderbaren Event Begleitung der »Lonely Mountain Band«, durch die »Valar« recht schnell diszipliniert und man sagte er sein ins Gefängnis von Bree gezaubert worden!
Es wurde noch getanzt und gefeiert zu den tollen Liedern der weiteren Kapellen wie »Disenchanted«, »Da Bugans«, »The Grayhawk Band« und als letzte Kapelle an diesem Abend »Bright Star«
Ich verabschiedete mich, nach einem langen Abend, bei den mir bekannten Freunden und legte mich in den großen Festsaal in Thorins Halle – welche freundlicherweise von den Zwergen für diese Veranstaltung mit Betten ausgestattet wurde – wo ich noch eine Kleinigkeit zum Nachtmahl zu mir nahm und dann fröhlich nach so einem schönen Abend schlafen ging.
Ich freue mich schon auf Samstag denn da geht es weiter unter anderem mit »Notenzauber« und »Die Meisterbarden von Bree« sowie vielen anderen tollen Kapellen!

Winterstock Festival – Tag 2: The Longest Day
Hullo liebe Leser,
auch gestern Nacht war ich wieder in der landrovalischen Gegend bei Thorins Tor für euch unterwegs und habe einige schöne Momente für euch eingefangen. An dieser Stelle möchte ich, auch im Namen aller meiner Freunde und Bekannten, mich bedanken bei der Lonely Mountain Band, welche dieses unglaubliche Event organisiert und betreut hat!
Etwas aufgeregt war ich ja schon, da ich ja nicht an zwei Abenden das gleiche Kleidchen anziehen konnte, jedoch hat meine liebe Freundin Leynael Wintermond mich beraten und ich entschied mich dann für ein warmes Winterkleid in Blau mit dazu passendem Schal. Gut gekleidet und den Bauch mit Törtchen gefüllt, ging es dann zur Veranstaltung auf dem zugefrorenen See, wo auch schon die erste Kapelle »Breakfast Club« aufspielte. Die Besucher hopsten fein zu den schönen Rhythmen und die Stimmung war unglaublich!
Ich traute meinen Augen nicht, als ich so durch die Menge blickte und bin mir sicher das ich einen der »Valar« erspäht hatte, in Form einer Hobbit Dame mit dem Namen »+Dust, Truchsesse der Ordnung« Ja so ist das liebe Leser, ich berichtete ja von gestern wo sich ein Gast daneben benommen hatte und nun waren die Ordnungshüter sogar zu sehen und hielten Ausschau nach Störenfriede, welche zum Glück an dem heutigen Abend fern blieben.
Floradine war auch wieder da und kündigte jede Band die aufspielte an. Auch konnte ich die Zeit finden mit ihr etwas zu hopsen, was ein riesiger Spaß war. Die zweite Kapelle die aufspielte war, ich habe sie sofort erkannt!, »Die Meisterbarden von Bree« wie gewohnt spielten sie wunderschöne Rhythmen, zu denen die Besucher tanzten und feierten. Aber, liebe Leser, etwas Außergewöhnliches geschah dann, die Hobbitlas der Meisterbarden backten einen Kuchen live on stage, welchen sie den Gästen dann anboten, während ihre Bandkollegen weiter aufspielten! Ich muss schon sagen das war unglaublich! Sie gewannen sofort die Herzen der Besucher welche, die Meisterbarden dann mit einem riesigen Applaus belohnten.
Die dritte Kapelle, »The Starlight Orchestra« war soweit, wie ich es verstehen konnte, unter der Leitung von Lilikate Buggins von der Lonely Mountain Band, eine Gruppe von Mitgliedern verschiedener Bands, die als eine Art assemble aufspielten. Wunderschöne Rhythmen erwarteten die Besucher! Nach einem großen Applaus nebst anständigen Feuerwerk ging es dann auch schon weiter mit der vierten Kapelle »Notenzauber« welche mit wunderbaren Rhythmen ebenfalls, wie gewohnt aufspielte und die Menge zum tanzten brachte so das ich fast Angst bekam das Eis würde einbrechen! So viele wunderbare Kapellen die aufspielten liebe Leser, es war unglaublich, man musste einfach dabei gewesen sein und das erlebt haben!
Es folgten dann noch die Kapellen »Under The Sunlit Sky« welche die Band von meiner lieben Freundin Crazypants ist und ebenso wunderschön aufspielten und als letzte Kapelle vor der vier stundigen Pause spielte dann noch »The Remediators« auf. Meine Freundinnen Azaline, Lieseline und Rubinette, Ranidia, ebenso einige weitere Mitglieder der Mondbarden gesellten sich im Laufe des Abends nach und nach zu der Veranstaltung, wir hopsten und feierten zusammen, bis die letzte Kapelle nun aufgespielt hatte und die meisten Besucher erst mal eine Pause einlegten und in Thorins Halle ein Abendmahl zu sich nahmen.
Eine kleine Überraschung habe ich noch für euch liebe Leser, ich konnte einen Termin für ein exklusives Interview, welches in unserem Sippensmial auf Landroval am kommenden Wochenende stattfindet, ergattern! Lasst euch überraschen, mehr dazu nächste Woche.
