Shame to see to excellent contributors sail west into guild wars 2, gonna miss the grumpy welsh one killing trolls in various adventures.Keep up the good work those remaining, hope you still have the passion
I was thinking about supporting lotro players, but now that most of them are leaving the game, there’s not much reason to.
There were about 10 pages of player discussion on the reputation items prior to this hotfix. https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?561430
A great show…yet sad that Cith And Ethel are to depart for GW2. Hope the door will always be open for there return when LOTRO has sorted out all its issues (be positive it could happen!). All the best.
I have my fingers and toes crossed that TURBINE can rescue LOTRO 🙂
I, for one, am glad they are leaving. The absolute negativity of the show is a complete downer to listen to. Whenever I listen to this show, I get so down on the game that I never want to play it again. I will never support this network with money and am considering whether I want to continue to subscribe or not. The only professional sounding person on the show is Andang. Pineleaf either needs to stop typing stuff in the background while recording the show or quit it. I will still continue to read the site for news, but the constant negative nature of the show just makes me want to throw my hands up and question why I ever play the game anymore.
If you’re not interested in occasionally contrary, controversial, ambivalent, or even disinterested opinions, they have a whole website just for enthusiasts like you at http://www.lotro.com. 🙂
I do not mind honest opinions, but, the show has gone totally negative all of the time. I do like the news feed on the site and will continue to read it. I’d just like to actually hear constructive criticism rather than the LI system sucks, Big battles suck. No new raids, that sucks. Lack of new PvMP map, that sucks. As for me personally, I don’t raid, and I don’t pvp in any game. It has been published that the actual number of raiders is a very small percentage of the player base. I am looking forward to the new 3 and 6 person content coming this year.
To further comment on the actual podcast in terms of quality, any amount of people on the show over 3 is a waste. The extras never seem to get to say very much or get talked over. The typing going on in the background is annoying and unprofessional. They should take lessons from Scott Johnson or Chris Perry on how to run a show.
Sal, I’m sorry that you don’t appreciate the time and effort that Ethel and Cith poured into this game over the years. The two of them have done significant and quality work. Like them, I was once passionate about LOTRO, but the direction the game has taken over the past year and a half has left me feeling bitter. To me, it sounds like something similar has happened to them over time. When a game feels neglected, it’s hard to not point out the flaws, express concern, or bring your gripes to the table. Podcasts and these player shows can’t be 100% positive 100% of the time.
I’m sad to seem them leave, but at the same time I’m glad they’re moving to another game they’re passionate about versus staying here and transitioning from “apathetic to negative,” as Cith so eloquently worded it. I wish them both the best at LP’s sister site.
From my corner, Cith and Ethel will both be missed. I believe that LPN’s strength is in the different personalities it has brought to the table, each with different interests and perspectives on the various components of game play. Everybody on the show loved LOTRO at one point in time or another or they would not have been there. I appreciated Cith’s views on cosmetics, RP and other areas and also felt that Ethelrose’s question of the week was frequently a high point that allowed for the most interaction and commentary to generate interesting feedback. I want to thank them both for their efforts and hope they will not be strangers to the community. I still believe you will have a hard time finding a better one out there.
Cheers, Braag of Vilya
P.S. – If your podcast has grown to a size large enough to generate some negative reviews, then you have made the big time. Congratulations!
A sad but fond farewell to you both, Cithryth and Ethelros. 🙂
May you both find joy in Guild Wars, and do return here as well if you ever have the inclination 🙂
I’ll miss you too, Cithryth and Ethelros! Thanks for all the time and energy you’ve put into this show, you’ve both been marvellous. I hope GWP is rewarding and satisfying and fun 🙂
The Episode 80 Bloopers video will forever be a favourite of mine, thanks for the giggles 😀
