LOTRO is getting a new Executive Producer, Athena Peters.
In an update to the players, the Executive Producer for LOTRO, Rowan, announced he will be moving on to another project at Turbine.
“After eight years, five expansions, and one free-to-play transition, the time has come for me to Sail to the West. More accurately, I’m moving thirty feet down the hall to start a new project at Turbine. With that, I’m leaving you in the very capable hands of another Turbine veteran – Executive Producer Athena Peters.”
Rowan was only in the position of Executive Producer for 11 months. He took the position after layoffs hit the studio in early 2014.
Rowan ends his letter with what seems to be advice for the new Executive Producer.
“In the next year you’ll see a continued drive to deliver great story content and an authentic world, but you’ll also need new investment in group challenges and content.”
There is also mention of the next producer’s letter coming soon.
“Frelorn will be posting Athena’s Producers Letter soon with her vision for the coming year.”
Athena Peters has been leading teams working on MMOs and online worlds for more than 10 years. She has spent the last 4 years working on DDO, where she had a good reputation for getting updates out.
