What is DPS?
Short answer: DPS Stands for Damage Per Second and generally can be used to compare the amount of damage a weapon will inflict on an enemy.
Long(er) answer:
From LOTRO Wiki:
DPS or Damage per Second is the calculated number that takes the average of the min and max damage on a weapon, the weapon Speed, and your own strength or other attributes that effect damage or speed. It will take all of these and calculate a balanced result.
Basic DPS calculation example (not applicable to LOTRO):
Damage / (Activation Time + Recharge) = Damage per Second
- Base Damage: The damage an attack does regardless of equipped gear or outside enhancements.
- Base Recharge/Cool down: The time it takes for the attack to be used again.
- Activation Time: The time it takes for an attack to animate.
Example:
75 / (.25 + .75)
75 / 1
75 Damage over 1 second (75 DPS)

Zodeia left a comment on the Weatherstock VI article:
“I just discovered Weatherstock on Monday 6/16/2014 and I’m soooo disappointed that I missed the live event. I’ve watched almost the whole festival and I can’t wait until I get home to finish it tonight.
I not only loved the jamming but also the costumes and syncronized finishes. One band smoked pipe weed and blew smoke heart rings at the same time at the end of their performance. So Frigging AWESOME!
I was waiting for some syncronized dancing by the audience!
I can’t even imagine the time involved to get this co-ordinated.
I asked my co-workers (all LOTRO players) if they had ever heard of this event and none of them had either! I’ve shared this link with them and next year, you will have 5 more attendees!
I’m guessing these bands do mini concerts in LOTRO land from time to time? I hope I don’t have to wait a whole year see a live concert.
Also, thank you for live streaming! This was the BOMB and your live chat group was fun to listen to.
Regards from someone truly impressed….

If anyone has it copied or access to The old lore book had some discussion on DPS and skill timings: lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Mechanics:Cool-Down_Timers…
And Forum has this: //www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?360769-Critical-Multiplier-Critical-Magnitude-Devastate-Magnitude
Which includes this formula: Damage = α·β·δ·(y%·(dmg + σ·max dmg·(0.335 + 0.001·ε – 0.000000335·ε^2)) + x)
BUT cant find a time component in this…
Oh and great show 🙂
I think I’m just going to take their word for it.
