Was thinking of doing this for a month anyway…so now I can do it for free and ‘if’ I cancel will still retain my ‘privileges’?
Odd as this is a well known strategy to get VIP privileges…surely they will lose out on a lot of 1 month subscriptions($14.99)…
Well I think I might just be able to twist my wife’s arm to do this if it costs us nothing…
I would also be interested to see if you can cancel before the 14 days are up and not get charged. My previous experience with VIP was that you were charged immediately. On the other hand, it does say “Your first month of FREE monthly Turbine Points (500 Points) should be applied within 48 hours of your account being billed”, so maybe they will hold your payment info and only charge you if you don’t cancel? I’m already a Premium player, so cancelling wouldn’t get me anything — I would only use this to extend my VIP time.
Quick note: the link to “Compare the Benefits” has some outdated info regarding level cap, crafting tiers, etc. I’m sure Turbine will update it soon, Helm’s Deep did just come out.
Yes, Sapience confirmed that you are not charged until the 15th day, but will retain any benefits of a VIP -> Premium switch if you cancel on Day 14. See https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?&postid=7035034#post7035034, posts 17, 19 & 21.
Seems like a crazy good deal for f2p players, not sure why Turbine is being so generous?
AND the 500 TP will follow up to 48 hrs after billing is completed…so after your 14/15 days of VIP fun you will have to be billed the full package amount to receive the TP…

that the comparison has not been upgraded is positively misleading: isn’t that illegal?
Epic game is still unlimited according to chart…as well as glaringly obvious level cap not being 85!

On reading the clarifications on the forum, this looks like a great thing for any F2P player. Actually for any Premium player that has any of the relevant perks locked on any character!
Always providing you have your act together enough to cancel before the free trial period is over.
On second thoughts, it’s not unheard of for Sapience to get his facts wrong or Turbine’s billing system to get its wires crossed. So it would be nice to have player confirmation as well, i.e. “I did X, and Y happened, while Z did not happen.”
This is a really nice present for F2Players. Go unlock those trait slots and bags everyone!
