Role: Damage
Group Settings: Fellowship and Raid
In an earlier post, we looked at the Bearer of Blight, who had some nasty effects relating to the various debuff types. That was just a warm-up for the Chaos Fiend. And when you consider that this lieutenant only appears in fellowship and raid skirmishes, “chaos” is definitely the operative term.
The Chaos Fiend is a defiler, which naturally means foul sorceries. Here is a look at this defiler’s nastier tactical skills:
Crippling Poison (Poison): This is just one of their mundane spells that imposes a penalty to agility.
Deadly Poison (Poison): This is a rather nasty poison that inflicts a large amount of common damage. Don’t worry, a friendly hunter should be able to remove it. You did stay on a friendly basis with those hunters, didn’t you?
Lethal Acid (Poison): Deadly Poison is just a mundane attack that gives you a small taste of the effects of the Chaos Fiend’s Lethal Acid attack. And lethal it is. It inflicts a nasty amount of acid damage every two seconds for thirty seconds. Ouch. Now are you convinced to be friends with those hunters?
Deadly Frost (Wound): This is pretty much a frost version of Lethal Acid. This is why you only face these guys in a large group: you’ll need a healer (for the obvious reasons), a hunter (for the poisons), and a lore-master (for the wounds). Well, I suppose some pots would help to mitigate this.
Fragile Form (Fear): With this debufff, you suffer a weakness against physical skills. Perhaps this is not directly deadly but the last thing you need is to have your tank’s mitigations reduced.
Major Disease (Disease): This disease inflicts a major power drain every 3 seconds for 30 seconds.
Since this is the first lieutenant where you can only face it in a raid or fellowship, I should note that all lieutenants in fellowship and raid settings are immune to dazes as well as any debuffs that reduce movement speed. So, your Lore-master will need to use those CC skills against the adds rather than the lieutenants.
The bottom line is that you will need to remove plenty of nasty effects when the Chaos Fiend is about. Kill him quickly if you can.
Next time, we will take a look at a lieutenant that is even scarier: the Courage-Breaker.
May your shield protect you and your spear never break,

Great post Pineleaf!
Excellent Post! These articles are great..Thanks Pineleaf.
Thanks Pineleaf again for this great article. One small comment, all the other ‘Let’s Look at Lieutenants’ articles are in the ‘Skirmishes Lessons’ category. Maybe you can move them all to this category?
