I don’t have the same confidence in Turbine that you guys seem to have. I think that trying to publish a major content update every year just doesn’t work for them.
They had more time to get Rise of Isengard out and they brought us a good region, sweeping class changes, and one incredibly buggy raid, but it was at least something.
They launch Riders of Rohan a year later and it’s even more of the boring themepark MMO style. Then there’s the incredibly unbalanced mounted combat that their engine chokes on and no new endgame group content. Forty-four days of daily quests to finish the storyline of the region, not to mention being called “endgame content,” is a joke. And all of this came with even more bugs and bad coding than what was in RoI.
I could forgive Tower of Orthanc coming later on since we had Draigoch and skirmish raids (newly dropping loot) to run. Hotbolt, solo-able warbands, and skirmish raids again? An unacceptable substitute for new group content.
I really like most of the people I’ve met in game, really like the world, and like the older content. I don’t like Turbine’s recent treatment of the game though and Helm’s Deep is their last chance to impress me. I very much want to like it and I hope they pull it off, but I’m pessimistic at this point.
If that sounds too negative…sorry. 😐
Another great show!
