Anonymous also means people cannot inspect you and you will not be seen as online in anyone’s friends list. The former becomes annoying when looking for people to join a group for something. You can’t check gear, traits, and so on, which makes it difficult to judge someone’s preparedness if you do not already know them.

Another good episode. Learned a bit and laughed a bit, good combo. Ok first I was surprised no one brought up the time I had “Branick’s Alt” as MY note. And second I want to tell Myst I am sorry if she thought I was blaming her that I died. I did write Dying “WITH” Myst not Dying “BECAUSE OF” Myst! I didn’t blame her for me getting ported, without pants, to Forochel, but I did blame her for calling me a chicken and saying I ran instead of what really happened which was me getting killed. And it was more my own fault because I had my lute equipped and was not able to protect myself very well anyway! Now with that out of the way I wanted to sign up for the voice acting, I am good at being the silent type! Looking forward to the next episode, whatever it is about, and also the Kin leader roundtable sounds like alot of fun!

Another good show guys – good review of the Social panel.

One thing I’d like to mention is on the Raid tab – not always just for raiders! Playing a tanking class as a main, the Target Assist checkbox is important, and will work for not only raids, but also for groups as small as a duo fellowship.

A sharp fellowship leader will mark the tank (or anyone else) as a “target assist” target. Those players that have the above checkbox checked will then see a small window with the specific character’s name and vitals, as well as who that character has targeted. This is great since you can then see who the tank has targeted, and target the same mob – just by clicking on the assist window. Healers can also click on the tank’s vitals in the assist window to the select the tank for healing.

Hope I explained it well enough. If not, we’ll chat about it on TS during Wed. Night LOTRO! Cheers!

I can definitely echo Tapkoh’s remark on how the anonymous setting can become a real nuisance. I suppose I understand that some users may want to stay off the radar from random invites in certain areas (like being in Bree and getting a random invite for a Great Barrows run, when you really don’t feel like running it). However, I feel like it’s much easier just to ignore the request/send a tell to the inviter and let them know you don’t feel like running, rather than to deal with some anonymous system.

I think some also use it so just people cannot see their gear/traits for a fellowship/raid (if they would be considered “sub-par”), but from what I have seen overall, I think more people use this option frivolously than is really needed. At least half of my friend’s list is filled with question marks (which would signify anonymity), and is a reason that I don’t use my friend’s list all that much (as opposed to the kin tab, which I use all the time).

So, while this may be a massive world filled with multiple people, there’s no need to be anonymous, folk! We promise we won’t laugh (too hard)!

Actually, I kind of like the idea of people not inspecting me. If you want to know what I have equipped, ask. If someone wants to remain anonymous, I’m glad that option is there. I may even use it myself on occasion now. The way I see it, if you want me in your fellowship it should be because you want my company, not because you like the stats of my equipment. That said, I don’t inspect other people but don’t particularly care if people inspect me.

The trouble with the Anonymous setting is that it also makes it difficult for you to know the level and class of the anonymous character. If someone posts an ad for a skirmish or instance, I like to see what level the advertiser is before I answer. Personally I feel they should be including the intended level in the ad itself but when they fail to do so, I use inspect to determine their level and class.

When I do inspect someone, it is generally to examine cosmetics rather than actual equipment.

Lots of great comments and boy do I have some replies πŸ˜€

Anonymous sounds like something I should look at since I am a Mysteri πŸ˜€ Seriously though, I haven’t been anonymous and doubt I will use it in the future.

Immakus, I was going to bring up that you were Branick for quite some time, but we ran a bit long on time and thought if u mention it here I would reply… so, consider yourself replied to.

Yes Immakus, it is Dying with Myst and not because of Myst, but it depends on the inflection of tone on the word with. It can imply that if ur with me then you die, hence my fault and look at things from my screen, you ran πŸ˜€

As far as voice acting, would love to have you Immakus. I have a character, male, always complaining. How does that sound πŸ™‚

Tomeoric, if we marked Immakus with the target assist, would that make him more visible to find and hence heal?

And yes Tapkoh, I agree we won’t laugh (too hard). Possibly just snicker behind our hands. πŸ™‚

I am like Pineleaf. I will inspect someone if they are wearing a cool outfit or something, but other than that, not much.

Ok, so I think I am done for now. Thanks for all the comments guys and as always…

    Have fun

@ Myst – correct. Anyone can be set as an assist target. Everyone who had checked the box after that would see who Immakus was targeting and could target the same, and could click on his vitals to spot heal, buff, debuff, or perhaps incombat rez.. πŸ˜‰

All the same game rules apply, so they would still have to be in range and within line of site, etc etc.

@ Pineleaf – I +1 your comment; that is how I normally use inspect.

  9. Tapkoh /

@Branick: That line of reasoning works for most of the game, but there are some fights where someone without a certain level of gear would be too much of a liability, whether you like them or not. If someone had single-digit virtue ranks and still wears their Moria or Helegrod armour, then there is no way I would invite them to take on Saruman or Tower of Orthanc tier 2, for example. For GB and the like, it doesn’t matter.

I for one would really benefit from listening to or participating in a Kinship roundtable episode. I inherited the leadership of a kin recently and I have no idea what to do with it. No one is ever on, expect for my friend, who is also my successor. Please help!

Big fan of the podcast. Always learn something new about the game and have a laugh while I’m at it. Keep up the great work for the good of all Middle-earth.
