The One Ring

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die
One for the Dark Lord on his throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky
Of the three elements: Air, Water, and Fire
Celebrimbor forged for Elf kings to try
To protect their kingdoms, preserving their desire
Till the rise of Sauron near where Shadows lie.

Seven Rings for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone
To build seven realms each above dwarf-hoards of gold
Till the dragons came – lusting for wealth alone
Till Sauron resolves the Dwarf-kings would now be sold
And their rings reclaimed in where Shadows lie.

Nine Rings for kings of Men soon doomed to die
Númenoreans Black fast ensnared by the One Ring
Down centuries as Ring-wraiths willingly
Serving none but the will of their Master – the Dark King
Of the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all – thus Sauron’s will
One Ring to find them out – thus all betrayed
One Ring to bring them all – which is seeking still
One Ring to bind them all – for this twas made
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
