Today in a post on the forums, Vyvyanne said there are no plans for mounted epic battles.

How do you think the Battle of Pelennor Fields will be depicted in LOTRO?

  1. Well I hope it will be made better then Rohirrims charge at Helms Deep… 🙂

There can be instance similar to those on Pellenor Field when Faramir was wounded (yeah not jawdropping element), but on larger scale. Although I suppose they are greatly limited by performance of engine and our PC’s.

Also, there can be used the trick we have seen in the game prolly only once, In North Downs when a few bog lurkers come to help Elves. They run through the place and dissapear. Something like that on larger scale can be used to show elements of charge.

I’ve always enjoyed mounted combat and find it fun although I know a lot of players would disagree. Mounted combat as much as I find it enjoyable in some cases a Epic Battle is not one of them. That being said I would like to see them maybe do a public instance. The Northern and Southern Rammas dailies are pretty fun when you group up. I’ve been in groups where a player will mount up and pull a bunch of mobs to us making it go a lot quicker. That’s what kinda gave me the idea for a public instance option. I think it would fun but new hardware would definitely be needed to help with lag. Whatever they have planned I hope it’s epic.
