Goblinsbane left a comment on this week’s poll:

“It was in the Third Age for sure. Soon before the start of the War of the Ring. I woke up in some prison cell with amnesia. Still do not remember anything from my earlier life. Prolly I was beaten hard by Blackwolds and this is why I remember nothing. And I think that I would die in that cell if not king Ellesar (then no one knew he will be a king), who had freed me. Yes men, thats not a lie. You can go to Minas Tirith and ask him. I was rescued by king Elessar personally. And later, oh man, so much fighting…”

Emails

Merryrose Morningstar sent in an origin story:

“There once was a lad named Teri. He traveled far & wide to find the perfect coffee. He landed in Australia by accident, but all was not lost as he met a nice lady name Mys. They went for a walk, & another walk. In fact they went on many walks together. In time they had a daughter who also loved to go on walks. Her name was Mysteri. One day she went on a walk for so long she left Down Under to land Over Hill in Middle Earth. If asked what she did there, she’d say “Oh, a little of this & a little of that”. What she meant was she shopped for houses or played chicken hockey. Everything went well until she went to market & met a coffee vendor named Rolf. She sniffed the coffee grounds that smelled divine & tried to place an order. “Oh, I am so sorry,” he said, “this is my last batch & I must deliver it to Lobelia Sackville-Baggins. I’ll get more for you & have it here next week.” Feeling a bit disappointed at that, Mysteri went for another long walk. Along the way she inadvertently offended another person in town named Draculetta & wreaked havoc in an Epic Battle proportion. They were so intent they didn’t notice the orcs that were about to clobber them. Out of nowhere came Pineleaf to save the day. He told them “You must skirmish responsibly”. Pineleaf then went on to another skirmish while Draculetta & Mysteri made up. Mysteri thought back to the coffee she desperately wanted but wherever she traveled the coffee didn’t smell as wonderful as that batch back home in the Shire. So dejectedly walked home whereupon – she discovered she had mail! Rolf had uncovered an extra batch of coffee he had misplaced & mailed it. Mysteri thereupon declared, “It’s all good”.

I was disappointed with the collections addition. It seems odd to me that the most difficult steeds to acquire in the game, imo, are strangely absent. Those metadeed steeds you get from completing most if not all of the deeds in the instances tab should have been included. Instead they’ve got fest steeds and store steeds.

That’s a good point about those meta-deed steeds. They did include the Kin of the Free-peoples title for getting the Elf and Eriador meta-deed steeds, so it is strange they didn’t include the instance ones.

I hope they continue to add to the Collections system and don’t just let it rot like so many other incomplete systems they’ve introduced over the years.

They did mention on the u14.2 stream that more will be added to the collections panel in the future. Though I can’t understand why they don’t roll things out completed. We’re not talking about some major overhaul to the game engine here..

They brought out the essences and one of the first things they mentioned was that it was a slow release and that if it was well received they would increase the availability. Imagine if you bought a car and GM said “Oh we’re trying this new model and if it’s well received we’ll give you the engine and wheels” People would be at the gates with torches and pitchforks calling for their heads.

Enjoyed the podcast very much. Being a parent takes a tremendous amount of time, and you definetly have to give up a lot of your hobbies. That is why I belong to a great kinship that understands that family come first.
