So do you have to have downloaded LOTRO through Steam to get this? Or is having it linked enough?

  I bought this pack a few years ago and this is what I had to do (I hadn’t been using LOTRO through Steam at the time):
  – Start downloading LOTRO through Steam just so it shows up in your Library as the same game they have in their system (not sure if just linking it will work)
  – Buy Steely Dawn Pack
  – Go to your Steam Library and right click LOTRO
  – Click “View CD Key”
  – Input that key into your LOTRO account at myaccount.turbine.com

    Oh did they fix that ?
    I bought this pack in a humble bundle a while ago and getting the key out of steam was a real hassle involving going to the steam fullscreen/TV mode and such.
    The view key didn’t work.
    
    It was actually the final straw on the camels back that made me decide to finally delete steam and never look back lol.

I don’t play Lotro through Steam. I may now though, I want that armor.

You only need to start the steam download so it shows up in your library. Once you have the cd-key you can delete steam again if you wish.
