LOTRO Academy: 21 – Skirmishes Part 4

LOTRO Academy
In this episode, we wrap up our series on Skirmishes with a look at Skirmish Soldiers. Pineleaf, Master of Skirmishes, once again returns to teach us which soldiers work best with which classes, and what to do with the soldiers we’ve selected. Thanks Pineleaf!

Another awesome episode, I listened to it twice! Pineleaf is a great guest.

On my hunter, I started with a bannerguard soldier and that’s worked out well for me in the two F2P skirmishes. She can tank the enemies well enough, at least as long as I work on peeling them off and killing them, and the healing seems sufficient.

Skirmishes are an excellent feature of LOTRO. Scalable content, for solo OR various group sizes, that gives every class an NPC helper — that’s not something I’ve seen in any other MMO yet. I hope they have another sale on them soon!

I believe that whole Northcotton Farm area is new to Update 2, environment and all – unfortunately, not 100% sure, but they certainly did a great job on all of the Evendim revamp. One of the new quests will give you an excellent view of Evendim (won’t spoil the location!).

Soldier-wise, my hunter actually does use a warrior. The nifty thing about these soldiers’ AI (at least the one’s I’ve played with) is that they generally won’t attack targets you have feared/stunned/mezzed, so hunter CC is useful while the warrior scoops up the other mobs and whittles away.

Also, I think I was just too lazy to switch after I started with him essentially as default (and his picnic basket was so shiny, I couldn’t resist!).

Nice episode – keep up the great work!
